For us, the shoppers, purchasing can be a fun-filled trip into town on a nice sun-speckled morning, complete with good friends, fascinating conversation and tasty treats.

However, a store is invariably a good deal above a delightful Saturday afternoon’s interruption for those folks who run it. The typical high street shop is, actually, a tightly run mixture of clever marketing, well-planned store layouts and fast working workers, most of which come together to generate a state of the art customer market. 2 way radios are a huge part of this operation.

How? Well, there’s health and safety to think about 1st and foremost. Customers need to be protected, with quick medical attention given should any crisis befall them.

Then, there is security of course. Allegedly, in ’09 alone, over 800,000 people were arrested for shoplifting. The next year, The BBC reported that stealing had cost United kingdom stores £4.4bn in less than a year. Apparently, thefts add around £180 to the normal family’s annual shopping bill. Security employees need to become more watchful than ever, but without imposing their attendance on (and thus dispiriting) harmless shoppers.

A reliable Walkie talkie system is a good way to accomplish this. Using two way radios, security staff can monitor a possible circumstance calmly and discreetly, questioning (if need be, apprehending) the person without causing too much of a fuss.

But those are not really the only reasons that two way radios are essential to the retail environment. Workers and shoppers need to become shielded from possibly hazardous situations as well. We’ve all seen a seemingly mundane state of affairs grow rampant for one reason or another and it’s down to that store’s administration to see that these incidents are restricted and diffused in a resonable and professional manner.

Obviously, we also need to consider the bigger retail centres like shopping malls and large centres of commerce. Across places as big and extensive as these can be, security, safety and customer comfort are all key issues that turn out to be that much more difficult to monitor and manage. On this level, every concern becomes amplified. In these situations, radios need to become dependable, able to work over lengthy distances and run using a relatively long battery life.

Two way radios are perfect for the task at hand, enabling management to supervise intricate operations and staff to perform their duties in a secure and reverent working environment. Without walkie talkies, a Saturday afternoon’s shopping would be a far less appealing prospect…
